THE FASTEST TRAIN TO ANYWHERE

The Fastest Train To Anywhere

THE FASTEST TRAIN TO ANYWHERE
by Alexander Wright, from The Flanagan Collective

@ Sat 1pm – Winterhouse (45mins)

A story about dislocation, adventures and where the wind might take us.

A man sets foot on a train just as it is pulling out of the platform. He has never got this train before. He doesn’t know why he is on it; he normally just goes home after work. The journey is relentless, but it is liberating. He walks with giants, swims through coral and dances with naiads in the dark by candlelight. Occasionally the train stops for a cigarette break.

The Fastest Train To Anywhere can take you to many places, but it can never take you back to where you came from, it can never take you home. One day it will drop you off as easily as it picked you up. And so he has been dropped off here. He has his suit, his hat and his briefcase that he was carrying home from work. And so, now, he should start his journey home. But he has no idea where home is anymore.
